About Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale often referred to as the Venice of America because of it's many miles of navigable waterway is located in Broward County; South Florida, north of Miami and south of Palm Beach. Population in 2005 is expected to reach nearly 2 million. Many boaters and yachting enthusiasts know Fort Lauderdale as the "yachting capital of the world." The last week of October attracts thousands of yacht brokers, owners and potential buyers together from all over the world for one of the largest Boat Shows imaginable.

Formerly known as the destination for college spring breakers, Fort Lauderdale tourism efforts are now concentrated on cruise ships and other nautical activities. With the expansion and extensive renovations to the Fort Lauderdale airport, there are more than 713 take offs and landings per day giving passengers many options for flights to Fort Lauderdale to enjoy the beaches, shopping, restaurants and nightlife.
